(SEDALIA, Mo.) – For Missourians seeking affordable family fun this summer, the Missouri State Fair Aug. 11-21 in Sedalia, is the ticket. Themed, “It’s A Show-Me Thing!”, the 11-day agriculture showcase will offer something for everyone including a variety of free professional entertainment like the famous puppet act, Mallory Lewis and Lamp Chop.
Many more quality acts, including all of the shows on the Kids Stage and Touchstone Energy Stage, are free with State Fair gate admission.
Regular gate admission is $8/adult, $6/senior, $2/child age 6-12 and free for children five and under; parking is also free. Adult advance admission tickets are available for $6 until Aug. 10 at any BreakTime, Casey’s General Store or Orscheln Farm and Home.
Other performances on the Kids Stage will include Ronald McDonald and Lisa Lou, a new variety show featuring plate spinning, feather balancing and scarf juggling.
The lineup on the Touchstone Energy Stage will introduce several new high-energy selections like Terry Davolt’s Comedy Hypnosis Show Aug. 11-20, Home Free a cappella harmonies Aug. 11-13, and The Grascals interactive bluegrass and country music show Aug.14-16.
The immensely popular group Vocal Trash will be returning to the Touchstone Energy Stage Aug. 17-20.
The new Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, sponsored by Missouri Emerald Ash Borer Program, is another free entertainment piece spanning all 11 days. This crowd-pleasing adventure will consist of log rolling, axe throwing and crosscut sawing while delivering an important forest conservation message.
Other free shows slated for the 11-day State Fair include the Amazing Anastasini Circus, sponsored by McDonalds; Hedrick’s Pig Races, sponsored by Socket; Hedrick’s Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, sponsored by Ditzfeld Transfer, Inc.; and Robinson’s Wood Carving.
A new Show-Me Tent, located behind the Womans Building, will host a variety of free activities that will add to this year’s entertainment experience. The tent will be a hub of activity on Aug. 13 with the second annual Agriculture Science Street Fair, coordinated by Science and Citizens Organized for Purpose and Exploration (SCOPE).
On Aug. 14, the tent will offer the public an opportunity to interact with innovative exhibits from military branches in celebration of Show-Me Salutes Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by I-Land Internet Services.
Other events in the Show-Me Tent will include the Antique Tractor Show Aug. 16-17; the new 4 O’Clock Bluegrass Jam Session Aug. 17, sponsored by AgriMissouri; and the new science event day called Show-Me the Green: Conservation, Energy and Innovation Aug. 20, coordinated by SCOPE.
