For the 3rd year, Louisiana Community Betterment participated in the Youth Civic Leaders Summit at Windermere at Lake of the Ozarks. It is a full weekend of constructive learning, sharing and interactive thinking between the many rural counties of Missouri. The YCLS is a sponsored collaborative effort between Missouri Community Betterment and the MO 4-H Clubs of Missouri. LCBA took 8 youth from our community this past weekend, March 2-4th. The youth have the opportunity to learn leadership skills as well as volunteer opportunities. It is a great avenue for the youth to learn, that they do have something to contribute to their home community and learn constructive ways to communicate their ideas for the betterment of their home town. The basketball court in Sunset Park was a direct result of this Youth Summit in 2016and the Beautification of the Riverfront was also derived at the 2017 summit. We are still seeking funds to complete the Riverfront project this year. To date we have received approximately $1300 toward the purchase of rock and materials needed to build new flower beds. We are still in need of about $3000 more to finish the complete project. If you have any questions about the project or you are interested in helping us achieve our $3000 goal, please contact Diana Huckstep, Chairperson of the LCBA at 314-640-4420 or by mailing your contribution to: Louisiana Community Betterment, 13384 Hwy NN, Louisiana, MO 63353.
